Itinerary

Day 1

Altitude: 1,400 m / 4,600 ft

On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, meet our office representative/driver outside the arrival gate. Transfer to the hotel and meet other group members.

Overnight: Kathmandu

Day 2

After breakfast, proceed for a Kathmandu sightseeing tour including:

  • Pashupatinath Temple – Darshan & Puja
  • Budhanilkantha Temple

Return to hotel. Afternoon free for packing and Yatra preparation. Evening: Briefing session about the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Altitude: Syabrubesi – 1,600 m

Distance: 145 km | Drive: 6–7 hrs

After breakfast, depart from Kathmandu by reserved tourist coach to Syabrubesi (near the China border).

(Subject to road conditions, stay may be at Timure – 1,983 m.)

Day 4

Altitude: Kerung – 2,850 m

Drive to Rasuwagadhi (1,800 m / 15 km / 45 mins).

After completing Nepal & China immigration formalities, continue drive to Kerung (Kyirong) – approx. 35 km / 1 hr.

Altitude: Saga – 4,550 m

Distance: 220 km | Drive: 5–6 hrs

After breakfast, drive to Saga, passing through scenic landscapes including Paigu Tso Lake and the Brahmaputra River (Yarlung Tsangpo).

Entire day free for rest and acclimatization, essential for high-altitude adjustment.

After breakfast, drive to Mansarovar Lake, crossing beautiful Himalayan terrain.

Upon arrival, complete Mansarovar Lake Parikrama by coach (105 km / approx. 3 hrs).

Day 8

Altitude: Darchen – 4,600 m

Distance: 35 km | Drive: 1 hr

Early morning holy bath at Mansarovar Lake (subject to weather). Perform Puja, Havan, and spiritual rituals as per individual traditions. Later, drive to Darchen, the base for Kailash Parikrama.

Day 9

(Kailash Parikrama – Day 1)

Altitude: Diraphuk – 4,880 m

Trek: 12 km | 5–6 hrs

After breakfast, drive to Yamdwar (43 km / 1.5 hrs).

From Yamdwar, enjoy the South Face view of Mount Kailash and begin Parikrama. Trek to Diraphuk, with views of the West Face of Mount Kailash en route.

Pilgrims not undertaking Parikrama may stay back at Darchen. Horse facility available at own cost.

Day 10

(Parikrama – Day 2 | Most Challenging Day) Altitude: Dolma La Pass – 5,700 m

Trek: 22 km | 8–9 hrs

After breakfast, trek towards Dolma La Pass (18,600 ft). This is the most strenuous section of the Yatra.

En route, view the sacred Gauri Kund.

Descend carefully and continue trek to Zuthulphuk.

Day 11

(Parikrama – Day 3 / Final Day)

Trek: 8 km | 3 hrs

Drive: 7–8 hrs

After breakfast, short trek to Maniwall.

BOOKING REQUIREMENTS & PROCEDURE

  1. Passport Validity

Passport must be valid for at least six (06) months from the date of travel.

  1. Passport Pages

Passport must contain a minimum of two (02) blank pages.

  1. Existing Chinese Visa

Any existing valid Chinese visa in the passport must be cancelled before travel.

  1. Booking & Visa Process
    • Submit the advance booking amount along with a clear photocopy of the passport at the time of booking.
    • Submit the original passport at the Delhi office 10–15 days prior to departure for visa processing.

CRITICAL RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Before booking, all Yatris must clearly understand and accept the following conditions:

  • The operator shall not be responsible for accidents, injuries, delays, or evacuation issues caused by natural calamities, adverse weather, or remote terrain conditions.
  • The operator shall not be liable for illness or health complications arising from

high-altitude travel, where emergency medical facilities may not be available.

  • No refunds will be issued for route changes, delays, or cancellations imposed by Chinese authorities or due to any factors beyond the operator’s control.
  • This Yatra is a physically demanding and high-risk journey. All participants undertake this pilgrimage entirely at their own risk, after assessing their medical fitness and physical capability.

HEALTH ADVISORY & ALTITUDE WARNING

  • Fitness Requirement:

This is one of the most challenging high-altitude pilgrimages. Participants must be in excellent physical health.

  • Mandatory Medical Check-Up:

A complete medical examination by a qualified doctor is mandatory, especially for pilgrims with heart, lung, blood pressure, or respiratory conditions (e.g., asthma).

  • Altitude Sickness Awareness:

Common symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, and breathlessness.

The acclimatization day at Taklakot is critical for safe adjustment.

  • Safety Precautions:
    • Drink 3–4 liters of water daily
    • Strictly avoid alcohol and smoking
    • Do not over-exert or rush during trekking
    • Immediately inform your guide or team leader of any severe or persistent symptoms
